Reese Witherspoon began seriously pursuing her acting career following attending Stanford University. At the beginning of her career, she had roles in movies like Pleasantville or Election. But it is Elle Woods' portrayal in Legally Blonde which marked a major turning point. Witherspoon won an Academy Award in 2005 for her performance on Walk the Line. Water for Elephants this means war as well as Wild were among her most recent films and she was also recognized as a nominee for the Oscar. She also appeared as an actress on The Dictator (1998) and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2006). In addition to her acting career she is also an accomplished painter and has exhibited her work in numerous galleries.
