Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into fame in 1994, after she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing More Than a Number. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was just 15 when the album became Gold. The album was an album that was heavily influenced by R. Kelly and it put the singer in the spotlight. In 1996, she debuted her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the number one hit single If Your girl only had known. Aaliyah was recognized internationally as an R&B performer with the launch of her second album One In A Million. She was a part of the legendary martial artist Jet Li in the 2000 action-romance film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die, spotted her during an awards event. In 2002 she got to be part of the horror film Queen of the Damned which was an adaptation of The Anne Rice novel. She then got into the Matrix in the form of Zee as Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also been as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. The artist has received four Grammy nominations in 1999 and 2003. She is an Indian-American of one generation who was born in Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is a short form of her marriage name Mankad. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as her professional names. Though she initially had small TV and movie roles, her acting started to gain momentum around the mid 2000s. In addition, she has appeared on Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. She has also been featured in commercials of major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. She has a daughter, resides in Los Angeles and is pursuing acting.
