Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar thanks to his folk-inspired songs that were often rooted in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled in Aspen. Denver's enduring songs about his adopted state inspired many people to move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame claimed it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver became one of the very premier Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He is the face of Colorado to a large number of people around the world. Through my travels, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell them you're from Colorado The first thing they'll use are"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk groups included Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered the song's early versions and was aware that it would eventually become a Top 10 chart hit. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later following a performance to crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
