Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. Her current position is that of president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the owner of the National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur in real estate who was the owner of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. Her parents parted ways in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was abandoned. In 1972, at age 19, she was employed for the family's business. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Prior to becoming vice-president of the Lakers, she served as president of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and the ownership for the Lakers was transferred to Buss as well as her siblings through a family trust with each sibling having equal voting rights. She assumed her duties as the president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also co-owns Women of Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with headquarter within Los Angeles.
